It would be all too easy to toss Aerial Love Feed in with the rest of the current bands on the thriving New York scene. It just wouldn't be right. The Brooklyn group, which colors its sound with Britpop from across several decades, shares some of the style of the neo-post-punk rockers -- the dance-punk beats of Gang of Four, the distorted, layered guitars of My Bloody Valentine, and a vocalist in Wade Settle who's faintly reminiscent of Echo and the Bunnyman's Ian McCulloch, though he's forged a compelling broadcast style all his own.
But along with the heavily pasted collage of fuzzy guitars, electronic loops and effects, and rollicking Madchester beats,, the songs contain an X-factor that can't be overstated: Meaning within Melody. The rich, emotionally evocative lyrics struggle with such universals as heartbreak, regret, disillusionment, and a general lousy state of affairs. The melodies could almost buried in the rush of guitars and noise, but the raw feelings are crystal clear. Live, the atmospheric pop band puts the guitar pedal to the metal. Aerial Love Feed's driven performance is moody, dark, energetic -- and has the punky rhythm to keep the groove flowing. Considering each song's heartfelt musical energy, it's a wonder that Settle isn't spent at the end of each tune. A common New York rock band Aerial Love Feed is not. What they are is a band pushing the limits of what retro rock can be in the early days of the new century. - Mary Huhn, New York Post

"Combining electronic elements and Hip-Hop beats with storming, layered rock 'n' roll, the band sits nestled in between its diverse influences of the Jesus And Mary Chain, Curve and latter-day Primal Scream. It draws regular capacity crowds in both NYC and Boston and has fans as far away as California, despite the fact that it has yet to embark on a full-scale tour. Not to mention that the band claims many of its own contemporaries as fans ‹ the members of Stellastarr*, for example, have been known to frequently namedrop ALF when talking about their hometown scene." - CMJ New Music Report
